PMA CARE PACKAGE

How It all started…

The PMA Care Package was designed in 2022 by our Leaders In Training (LITs). The leaders wanted to share PMA, a Positive Mental Attitude, with others in the T1D community, especially those impacted by the mental strain of living and managing type 1 diabetes every day. The program offers a positive pick-me-up to anyone in need of a reminder that they are not alone in managing diabetes.

What is PMA?

PMA is a Positive Mental Attitude. PMA is one of the most important values of The DFC. It is the belief that mindset dictates the outcome of every situation. By approaching every situation with PMA, we are empowered to overcome, achieve, and succeed despite the situation’s external forces. Our organization, staff, volunteers, and participants believe that anything is possible with a positive mindset and a supportive community.

How does PMA Care Package Work?

Individuals living with T1D are nominated to receive a PMA Care Package by a parent, guardian, friend, family member or healthcare provider. The DFC receives the nomination, reviews the request, and assigns the airlift package to be filled by one of our dedicated PMA Care Package volunteers. A fun box filled with resources, inspiration, and a personal note arrives at the nominee's door in a few short weeks. The package offers hope, support, resources, and a reminder that the recipients are not alone in the challenges of living with diabetes. Our DFC community is here, and together - we can do anything!

Why would someone need a PMA Care Package?

Everyone impacted by T1D have hard days. Sometimes it is a struggle with insurance, sometimes you just can’t seem to get your blood sugar in range, and sometime diabetes just stinks. All of these are great reasons to send someone a package filled with PMA.

Who can be nominated for PMA CARE Package?

The packages can be for anyone impacted by T1D, a child or adult living with T1D, a parent that is doing the best they can, a guardian that works hard to advocate everyday for the person they love, a school nurse, or a co-worker that you know is impacted by T1D and needs a reminder that they are not alone on the rollercoaster of T1D.
