Looking for a Connection?
A type 1 diabetes diagnosis can feel overwhelming. Even years into the journey, the constant decisions, highs and lows, and “what-ifs” can leave you feeling isolated.
You shouldn’t have to figure this out alone.
At The Diabetes Family Connection, we’ve walked alongside hundreds of individuals and families living with T1D. We understand the daily challenges — and the quiet fears no one else sees. That’s why we created our Connection Program. Click here, tell us a little about yourself, and we will personally connect you with someone who understands your stage of the journey — someone who can share their experience, answer questions, and remind you that community changes everything.
You don’t have to do this alone. Let’s take the next step together.

Mental Health
Living with type 1 diabetes, or caring for someone who does, can bring unique emotional challenges. To help, we’ve compiled a list of mental health care providers experienced in supporting individuals and families navigating chronic illnesses. These professionals understand the stress, anxiety, and emotional demands that come with the 24/7 nature of diabetes management.
Please note: This list is not an endorsement of any specific provider. It is meant as a starting point to help you explore and find the support that best fits your needs.
T1D in School
Need help getting ready for school? Do you have questions about 504 Plans or what T1D supplies your student needs for the school day?
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) protects children whose disability impairs their academic performance. It requires that those children be given a “free, appropriate public education.” Qualification depends on how T1D affects the student’s ability to learn.
If a student qualifies, they have the right to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) with their school. An IEP is similar to a Section 504, though it also includes specific measures to address the child’s academic performance, special education needs and other related services.
